Aristeides Papadakis, Professor Emeritus (Ph.D. Fordham University)
Professor Papadakis is a scholar of Byzantine, medieval, and religious history. He is author of Crisis in Byzantium: The Filioque Controversy in the Patriarchate of Gregory II of Cyprus (1283-1289) and The Christian East and the Rise of the Papacy 1071-1453. French Translation: L’orient chrétien et l’essor de la papauté [éditions du cerf, 2001]. The same volume has also appeared in Greek and Russian translations. Further, he was editorial consultant and contributor to the Oxford Dictionary of Byzantium, and has participated at international conferences at the invitation of several universities and institutions, including the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences of the Vatican, the Harvard University Center for Byzantine Studies at Dumbarton Oaks, the University of London, University of Cyprus, and Fordham.
